Five Tweets w/the Rhino

Michael McCulloughFor our first Five Tweets w/the Rhino we chose Michael McCullough, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for the Miami HEAT. Michael oversees the entire Marketing Division for the Miami HEAT.  The  Miami HEAT is getting their arms around how they want to execute their SociaI Media strategy after months of internal meetings and strategy sessions.  They feel pretty good about where they are headed and, in the very near future, they plan to make some announcements regarding staffing and the structure of their new Social Media operation. The team has been involved in Social Media since  2004 with the Miami HEAT Message Boards then got involved with Facebook in 2006.

The Heat currently have a total of 7 social media channels: Twitter (www.twitter.com/miamiheat), Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/miamiheat), YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/miamiheatis), Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/miamiheat), Bebo (http://bebo.com/MiamiHeat88), Friendster (http://www.friendster.com/miamiheat88), and the Miami HEAT Message Boards (http://heat.infopop.cc/eve)

1. What valuable information does social media channels provide you in your day-to-day role with the team?

A. Social Media provides a great “temperature reading” of what @MiamiHEAT fans are thinking & feeling & how the #HEAT fits into their lives.

2. With your recent inaugural #twHEATup, what are one or two things you learned about the people who attended?

A. We learned that #twHEAT fans are passionate, that they want to be involved and that  they love the VIP treatment!

3. Besides, the #twHEATup, tell us about one social media campaign or contest that was successful during 2009-10.

A. Our Tweet with the #HEAT Scavenger Hunt was a big success!  People running all over Dolphin Mall to solve clues & meet #HEAT players.

4. What are some of the most frequent topics Miami Heat fans want to discuss with your social media team?

A. They ask questions about the future of the franchise and hope to get some insight into what moves might happen.

5. With a thriving Facebook page & a growing Twitter account @MiamiHEAT, what will you do during the offseason to sustain growth and momentum?

A. Create a structure & provide the necessary resources for our Social Media efforts to really thrive! We’re psyched!
